Ingredients
Nellikai – big ones about 10 in number
Salt – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 4 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1.5 tsp lightly roasted and powdered
Fenugreek ( methi) seeds – 1.5 tsp lightly roasted and powdered
Asafetida – a pinch
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Sesame oil ( til oil) – 3 tsp
Procedure
Steam the washed and dried nellikai for about 10 mins in a cooker.
When it cools gently press it with a finger. The cooked nellikai easily splits into 6 pieces with the seed in the center. Discard the seeds

Now heat the oil in a frying pan , lower the heat and add the red chili , turmeric, fenugreek , asofetida and mustard powders powders. Turn off the heat and add the salt and mix all well before adding your gooseberries.

Once it is cool shift it into a ceramic , glass or plastic container.

Your pickle rich in vitamin C is ready to be consumed. This pickle needs refrigeration.
