Alu Vadi ( Arbi or Colocasia leaves fritter)

Ingredients:
Colocasia leaves ( tender) – 10
Besan – one bowl
Tamarind water – one bowl
chilli powder – 1 tsp
jeera powder – 1 tsp
dhania powder – 1 tsp
garam masala. – 1 tsp
jaggery – 1tsp
salt – 1 tsp
turmeric – 1tsp

Method:

In a bowl of Besan, add tamarind water and the above ingredients. Mix well. The
mixture should be neither very thick nor thin.

Smear the paste on the back side of five colocasia leaves and place them one above other.

Roll the leaves. The paste can be smeared above the roll also.

Steam the rolls for 10 minutes.

Cut them into round pieces. Garnish them with shredded coconut and mustard ,jeera tadka.

Note :

The pieces can be deep fried or shallow fried in oil as per our taste and then garnished with tadka and coconut.

The Arbi leaves must be tender or else it may cause itchyness in the throat.
