Ingredients:
1. For the daal mixture to be ground in a mixer-
Masoor daal (Red lentil)-1 cup
Almonds -15-
Garlic cloves – 2 big cloves-
Corriander leaves – half a cup
2. vegetables-
Onion- 1 medium size finely chopped-
Carrot- 1 medium size grated
Cabbage grated-1 cup
3. Spices –
Roasted jeera powder-half a teaspoon
Ginger- green chili paste-half to one teaspoon according to taste
Salt- according to taste
Garam masala – optional
Method:
Wash and soak the masoor daal in water for an hour.

Drain out the water thoroughly. You can dry it on a cloth napkin for 15 mins.
In the mean time you can prepare the vegetables.
Take half a cup of finely chopped onion , half a cup of grated carrot and one cup of grated cabbage. You can change the proportions and also add vegetables of your choice.

Sauté these vegetables in a teaspoon of oil for 5 minutes and keep aside to cool.
Now grind together in a mixer the well drained masoor daal , almonds , garlic cloves and coriander leaves. The mix should be a little coarse in texture and not a smooth paste.

Shape the mix into tikkis.
On a non stick tawa , shallow fry them with little oil till they turn golden brown in color .

Serve with green chutney and tomato ketchup.
