Pottu kadalai (chutney dal ) burfi

Ingredients :

Pottu kadalai ( roasted bengal gram dal ) 1 cup

Powdered jaggery 3/4 th cup

Ghee 3 teaspoon

Cardamom 4 ( powdered)

Method :

Roast the dal in a frying pan ( Kadai) for 2-3 mins to remove the raw smell .

Cool it and powder it in a mixie to a fine powder.

Now take the jaggery in the frying pan , add 1 cup water and let it dissolve. When the water starts to boil, lower the flame and add the dal powder slowly making sure to stir continuously. It quickly lumps up.

Now add the ghee and the cardamom powder and stir continuously till the mixture leaves the sides of the vessel.

Pour it into a greased plate, flatten it and allow to cool.

Once it is cool cut it into pieces using a greased knife .
