Quick kadi/ mor kuzhambu

Come Summer and we end up with sour curd regularly. We try to use it up by making buttermilk, raita, etc.

Try this quick and easy kadi / mor kuzhambu. I find it very tasty and time saving. In fact if you have sudden guests, this comes in handy.

Ingredients:

Sour curd 1 litre
onion 3 medium sized finely chopped
garlic 2 pods finely chopped
green chillies 4 sliced in the middle
red chilli whole 4 each made into 2 pieces
ginger 1 teaspoon grated
curry leaves little
coriander leaves 1 medium cup finely chopped
besan / chickpea flour/ kadalai maavu 2 tablespoon
ghee 2 tablespoon
mustard half teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds one fourth teaspoon
haldi powder half teaspoon
heeng powder one fourth teaspoon
salt 2 and a half teaspoon for this quantity or as per your taste

Directions:

  1. Take a bowl and mix curd and besan with a beater and keep it aside. If you feel it is very thick, a little water can be added.
  1. Now take a kadai ( preferably thick bottom) and put ghee
  2. After it gets heated, add mustard, Fenugreek seeds, green chillies, red chillies, curry leaves, grated ginger, chopped garlic and after a few seconds add onion. Add haldi powder, asafoetida and salt and saute till onion turns transparent and a little brown.
  1. Now add the besan mixed curd and simmer the flame.
  2. After 10-15 minutes, turn off the stove and garnish it with coriander leaves.

You can enjoy it with steamed rice/ jeera rice.
