Sev Khamani ( Gujarati Snack)

Ingredients: Roasted Bengal Gram Dal( Pottukadalai), Green chillies, Ginger, Curd, Eno fruit salt, Mustard seeds,Asafoetida (Hing), Turmeric powder,Oil, Water and Salt.

For garnishing: Sev( I used the thin one. If not available,can use bhujia),Coriander leaves, Chopped onions, Pomegranates.

Method: Soak Dal for 6-7 hours or overnight in water.

Soaked RoastedBengal Gram Dal

Remove the water. Add chopped ginger and green chilli. Grind into a smooth paste. If needed add a little water. Transfer to a bowl. Add a little curd, water, salt. Mix well. Make a smooth batter like idli. Finally add Eno fruit salt. Mix..

Batter

Steam in a pressure cooker for 25 minutes or till it’s cooked well. When you put a knife inside it should go smoothly and not stick. When cool, grate it.

Steamed and grated

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, a little turmeric powder and hing. Add the grated mix . Fry for a few minutes, not too much. Then transfer to a bowl. Add the garnishing and serve. It can be served with green coriander chutney or tamarind chutney.

Note: I also put roasted papad pieces and masala peanuts for the garnish. You can choose your own garnishing😀
